Despite kind encouragement from their classmate Monami Suzuki, Capeta privately struggles with loneliness due to his difficult situation. Capeta's father works long hours at a paving company, leaving Capeta to juggle daily duties, including dealing with school bully Nobu Andou. Since his mother's early passing, elementary student Capeta Taira has had to become more self-reliant to relieve his father of added worry.
